DIN6923 Hex Flange Nut With Serration

DIN 6923 Hex Flange Nuts are hex nuts with internal machine screw threads and a circular flange that flares to a diameter larger than its hex top section. The bearing surface of the nut can be non-serrated (smooth) or serrated. Serrations are tooth-like projections that bite into the mating surface causing the nut to resist loosening and require more torque to remove than install—since there is no prevailing torque, the nut freely spins until it contacts the surface.

Because thread deformation isn't used as the locking mechanism, serrated nuts won't gall screw threads but will mar the mating surface. The large bearing surface is capable of spanning misaligned, odd-shaped and oversized holes. They are frequently used with hex flange bolts.

Choose from Class 8 and 10 steel and stainless steel and, depending on size, coarse, fine and extra fine threads may be available. Steel finishes include zinc plated and plain, which is unplanted and susceptible to rust. Tolerance of the thread is 6H for steel, plain finish and plated, and stainless steel; right-hand threads are standard. The nut should always be equal to or greater than the strength grade (Class) of the screw.

DIN 6923 Hex Flange Nuts are similar to ISO 4161, JIS B1190 and ANSI B18.2.4.4M.
